Acceptance must be understood before work begins
An inspection plan translates a product definition into stages, characteristics, methods, responsibilities, frequency, records, and decision points. Creating it after production turns quality into a search for evidence that may no longer be available.
Start with characteristics that influence fit, function, assembly, finish, quantity, identity, and contractual release.

Not every check belongs at the end
Material identity belongs before use. Setup-sensitive geometry belongs at first-piece approval. Stable process characteristics may be monitored during production. Packaging and quantity belong close to dispatch.
Placing checks near the decision shortens feedback, limits affected quantity, and makes corrective action more practical.

Plan the response as well as the check
A result without a defined response creates delay and inconsistent decisions. The inspection plan should connect acceptance, hold, rework, concession, rejection, reinspection, and release authority.
Project hold and witness points also require realistic notification, access, evidence, and schedule allowances.
